Directions
The building is called the International Folk Culture Center, and it
is on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St.
78207. The campus is 3 miles west of downtown. The IFCC has a
terrific sprung wooden floor and pretty good air conditioning—a
terrific venue for dancing.
To get to the campus, you can take Commerce Street west from downtown
until you reach 24th St. You'll see the spires of OLLU on the left.
Turn on to 24th and then turn right onto an inner-campus drive just
after you cross the bridge. The IFCC is the second building facing the
lake, it's 3 stories tall and says "gymnasivm" on the front of the
building (it's OLLU's original gym). Parking is over by the soccer
fields, and there is a walkway shortcut next to the lake from the
parking to the IFCC. The ducks and geese at the lake may pester you for
bread. Frequent squirrels, occasional raccoon sitings.
Another way to get to the campus is to take Hwy 90 "toward Del Rio"
(toward Lackland AFB) and take the Cupples Road exit. Go north on
Cupples, past San Fernando cometary, past Old Castroville Road and
Cupples becomes 24th St. In this case, you would see the spires
on your left, and drive to just before the bridge before turning left
onto the inner campus drive.
