Parking for Nov. 13 dance
Use the Commerce Street entrance, across from the AutoZone, to access
parking lot B, near the tennis courts where we usually park.
Providence Road, which runs in front of the IFCC,
will be closed for utility work. It will be accessible for
pedestrian traffic. See below for more details
When we come to the IFCC for the next
contra on November 13 (or the Bulgarian Concert on November 12!) we'll
need to enter the campus from Commerce Street, across from
AutoZone. Here's what the Executive VP of OLLU, David Estes,
wrote today:
With Main
Building almost complete, we are pleased that the City of San Antonio
is ready to begin work on burying the utility lines along 24th Street
and Providence Road. On the first anniversary of the Main Building
fire, then-Mayor Phil Hardberger pledged the city’s assistance with
this project that will help highlight the beauty of our campus by
removing the obstruction of the power lines.
Work on this project will begin with the utility
lines along Providence Road (this is
right in front of the IFCC). Work on Providence Road will run
from Monday, Nov. 8, through Friday, Nov. 19,
and the roadway will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to
west campus during these hours will be through the West Commerce gate.
Limited access will be available after 6 p.m.
Parking for those who have disability needs will be available in Lot B next to the UWAC.
This work will cause a temporary disruption of traffic on campus, but the long-term result will be better views of Elmendorf Lake and improved views of our beautiful campus buildings along 24th Street.
We can still park in Lot B, which most of us already do. Just a heads up. Good news in the long run, but I'll bet the ducks will be upset!
